Ingredients

  • 6 oz grass-fed rendered beef tallow
  • 2 tbsp organic jojoba oil
  • 1 tsp skin-safe vanilla-infused oil
  • 4–6 drops vitamin E oil

Instructions

  1. Transfer the 6 ounces of tallow into a small stainless-steel double boiler. Heat gently over low heat, stirring occasionally with a stainless-steel spoon. Allow the tallow to slowly melt until completely liquid and pale golden. Do not boil, brown, or overheat it.
  2. Transfer all of the melted tallow back into the clear glass mixing bowl. Pour exactly 2 tablespoons of jojoba oil into the melted tallow and gently stir until completely combined.
  3. Add 1 teaspoon of skin-safe vanilla-infused oil followed by 4–6 drops of vitamin E oil. Stir gently until the oils are completely incorporated. The mixture should remain a light, pale-golden color.
  4. Allow the mixture to cool, or place it briefly in the refrigerator. Watch for the edges to turn cloudy and creamy ivory. Continue cooling until the entire mixture resembles very soft room-temperature butter. Do not allow it to become completely hard.
  5. Place the white electric hand mixer into the semi-solid mixture. Begin whipping at medium speed. The dense ivory mixture should start becoming lighter and develop visible ridges from the beaters.
  6. Continue whipping for approximately 3–5 minutes until the mixture increases in volume and becomes pale ivory, airy, silky, and fluffy. Stop when the body butter develops soft peaks similar to whipped buttercream.
  7. Scoop through the whipped mixture with the stainless-steel spoon. The finished body butter should hold soft peaks and form thick, silky ribbons without appearing liquid, greasy, or hard.
  8. Spoon all of the finished whipped body butter into the clean, dry 8-ounce amber glass cosmetic jar. Fill it to just below the rim and use the back of the spoon to create a soft decorative swirl on top.
  9. Place the lid on the amber jar and store it in a cool, dry location away from direct sunlight. Keep water out of the jar during use.
